1st Annual Memphis Snuggie™ Pub Crawl to Raise Funds for Amelia’s Voice

Join us for the 1st Annual Memphis Snuggie™ Pub Crawl will be held on Saturday, November 28, at 8 pm in downtown Memphis to benefit Amelia’s Voice, a private medical benefit fund for Amelia Thompson, who suffers from Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP).

Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP) is a disease in which tumors grow inside the larynx, vocal cords and trachea. It affects both children and adults. There is no known cure for RRP. If left untreated, these respiratory tumors will continue to grow, blocking the patient’s airway with suffocation being the likely result. Frequent surgeries are imperative to keep the patient’s airway from being compromised and to prevent the tumors from fatally spreading to the lungs.

Amelia's Voice is a private benefit fund to assist in the treatment of 2 year old Amelia Thompson. Amelia was diagnosed with the disease in June 2009 and has already had four surgeries to date with many more still ahead of her. She receives treatment for RRP at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Her next surgery is scheduled for December 21. All proceeds raised for Amelia’s Voice go directly toward travel expenses, lodging, transportation and the medical expenses.

All you need to join in the fun is a Snuggie – the Blanket with Sleeves! The Snuggie keeps you warm and gives you the freedom to use your hands to drink beer, shake hands or high five. Go crazy decorating your Snuggie and you could win the "SNAZZYSnuggie™" Contest. Prizes will be awarded in several categories for the Best of Show Snuggie.

Participants must be 21 years of age and wearing a Snuggie™ to join! Stay warm and look cool while bar hopping through downtown Memphis. Entry Fee is $10 with a portion of proceeds going to Amelia's Voice, a private benefit founded by Stephen and Kim Thompson. Learn more at www.rrpf.org, www.causes.com/ameliasvoice, or http://www.ameliasvoice.org. Other ways to help Amelia’s Voice may be found on the latter website, including purchasing Letter’s from Santa, transferring air travel miles, or simply making a donation.

Snuggies are available at Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, CVS and other local retailers. Tickets can be purchased from any hosts. Look for us at various local events during the month of November, where tickets will be on hand.
